There's a 1st time for everything...

I made homemade salsa Saturday night and it's actually pretty good! I got the recipe here. I'm not a fan of store bought salsa so I got inspired to make some. I tried some before I let it set and it was a bit hotter than I prefer, but the heat died down a bit after I let it set. =) I also don't like chunky salsa so this recipe was perfect! I bought a food processor specifically to make salsa, but I ended up using my blender because a 3 cup processor just won't cut it! (I didn't think it through very well, did I?!) So, next week I'll be returning the food  processor! Oh well. I guess it saves me money since my blender did a perfectly fine job...although it almost blew it's top! So go to your local grocery store, stock up on the ingredients, and make your own! Truly amazing!

Strawberry Pie

2 pints fresh strawberries, hulled
2 Tb. cornstarch
1 1/2 c. cold water
1 pkg. (.3 oz) sugar-free strawberry jello
3 Tb. sugar
1 graham cracker or shortbread crust
whipped topping

Slice strawberries and set aside.

In saucepan, combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

Remove from the heat; stir in jello mix and sugar until dissolved.

Stir in sliced strawberries.

Pour into the crust. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hrs. or until firm.

Serve with whipped topping. Voila! You have a quick, delicious dessert!
(Or in my husband's words, "It was truly legendary.")

Air Show 2010

The Blue Angels

This is a stunt biplane. It was fun to watch!

This plane can take off and land vertically. It is used for ground troop support.

I just liked the name of this plane..."Bucket of Bolts." =)

I'm not sure about this plane either, but I couldn't pass it up....it's flying the Kansas state flag!!!

This was the 1st air show I've been to. It was so much fun I went 2 days...well that and the fact that my husband had to help with the air show! God provided gorgeous weather and nearly clear skies. It was great!

Free Stuff

Well, I stayed up waaaaay too late signing up for free samples and other stuff online. I like to get stuff in the mail, but I know my husband wouldn't appreciate me spending all our money either! I go for the ones that you fill out a form and that's it....none of this completing other offers junk! A few good sites to look for free stuff are mysavingsfreestuff, & Walmart . (At the Walmart website, you have to click on the tab on the left side of the page that says "In Stores Now." After you click on that one, there should be another tab that says "free samples." Click there and you should be good to go! Happy hunting! =)

Rationalization For Procrastination

I've been thinking about why I procrastinate. Am I lazy or do I have a good reason? I have decided that it's because I agree with the phrases "Life's too short" and "You only live once." I don't think I'm going to look back one day and say, "I wish I would've spent more time cleaning/washing dishes/doing laundry." With that in mind, my house may never be immaculate, but I'm going to enjoy life. Maybe you don't agree and that's fine, but I want to live happy and "chores" do NOT make me happy!

Pretty much the only way I can "trick" myself into half way "enjoying" mundane tasks is if I make it a project. (For example, if I want to decorate a room-which to me is fun-I clean/organize as I go.) On that note, I think I'm going to start a project soon...cleaning/organizing/decorating the room I have all my scrapbook stuff in. Right now it looks overwhelming, but I know I will be happy with the end result. So, if you want, stay tuned to see if I go through with it or if procrastination wins out! (If I happen to actually go through with it, I'll post before and after pics!)

*For the record, I do clean/do dishes/do laundry when absolutely necessary. I don't want anyone to get the idea that I'm a slob. =)
